Yves Rossy, or as he is more commonly known, The Jetman, has always had a dream of flying. As a professional pilot, Rossy alway looked to be free of the restraints of a cockpit and to fly as free as the jets he piloted. His next step was sky surfing and wingsuiting. Even the thrill of falling fro a mountain with the maneuverability of a bird wasn’t enough. After designing a rigid wing for free-falling, Rossy took the next step and built a jetpack utilizing model jet turbines.
According to Rossy, “I truly believe that flying is a part of my DNA. Even as a pilot, flying military and civilian aircrafts, I always had a dream of flying free in the open skies, because that is where you can truly be free… I want to make possible what humans have only been dreaming of and I believe that Dubai provides the right environment and infrastructure for me to achieve this.”
Rossy’s counterpart, a 30-yeard old French skydiving phenom named Vince Reffet flies right alongside his mentor in the skies over Dubai as the second half of the Jetman Dubai team. Reffet says, “Free flying is a great feeling, but being able to control your flight is even better. To be able to learn from the first man in the world to fly with a jet-powered wing is an honour. I’m privileged to learn from Yves and together we dream to go higher and fly together.”
