Epsom salt, to me, has always been a bit like baking soda or plain white vinegar (both also mentioned in the tips below). I knew there were a thousand uses for it, but I only used it for the one with which I was familiar – in this case, as a bath soak. 1. Dissolve a tablespoon of Epsom salt in to 1/2 cup of hot water. Let cool, and use the mixture to saturate a washcloth. Apply it to a bug bite to relieve itching.
2. You can also put that mixture in a spray bottle. Spray it on your skin to help calm a sunburn.
3. Ease and repair sore muscles, or even relieve a headache or abdominal cramps, by soaking in a hot Epsom salt bath.
4. Mix Epsom salt with a little bit of water to form a paste, and apply this mixture to a bruise. This will accelerate fading and recovery.
5. Add Epsom salt in to your hangover regimen. Put a teaspoon of it in a large glass of water to help flush out your system after a long night.
6. Apply Epsom salt to the skin over a splinter. This will pull the splinter to the skin’s surface, making it easier to remove.
