A proverb is defined as “a short pithy saying in general use, stating a general truth or piece of advice.” For me, I define them as “those little quips of wisdom we hear almost every single day that are typically more profound than we give them credit for.” Most simple proverbs we hear throughout our lives have uncertain origins, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t apply to us all. Below is a list of 50 of my all-time favorite proverbs, and I challenge you to throw these out in your everyday conversations. They will make you sound wise and worldly, like an old bearded wizard, or a Samurai master, and THAT is pretty cool.
